Our family portrait – Ukiyo-e style

Ukiyo-e portrait of the family – cat included.

I thought I’d do something special for my wife this year for Valentine’s Day. I’ve never created an art piece for her and decided on doing a family portrait. I’ve always loved the Ukiyo-e style so created a portrait of us in that style.

I sketched it out with the traditional paper and pencil then scanned it in to “ink” and color it in Illustrator. It took a couple weeks because it all had to be done in secret after everyone went to bed. I had Picture Salon print it for me at 16×20 with museum quality inks and paper.

I think it came out pretty good.
